The world is currently facing a pandemic. The corona virus is without doubt the most unprecedented epidemic in recent history. How has Nigeria been dealing with this human catastrophe? With a population of over 200 million people the total lockdown imposed by the Federal Government is a huge personal and economic blow to most Nigerians.

With most of our people living below the poverty line and in housing which is dilapidated face me I face you accommodation, constant electricity cuts it is an uphill struggle.

Virgo Foundation has decided to form a partnership with the Kaffydance foundation with their ADD A CUP project and THE LOCKDOWN RELIEF SUPPORT co-ordinated by Ayo Makun (popularly known as AY) Together with the kaffydance foundation the aim is to target poor and vulnerable areas of Lagos and to supply people directly with food, hand sanitisers, soap and other basic essentials.

In partnership with THE LOCKDOWN RELIEF Virgo Foundation has decided to pick those names that have submitted themselves for financial assistance during this critical time and to send these persons the sum of ten thousand naira only.

Virgo Foundation would also be looking to assist our health care professionals who are on the frontline in this war against covid 19. WE would also like to take this opportunity to thank them hugely for the great work they have done so far and the lives that have been saved.

The charity is also actively looking to join hands with other charities, individuals, non-profit organizations in our collective fight against this pandemic. We believe if we all join hands (metaphorically speaking) that we can help to alleviate some of the suffering that has borne down on our people as a result of this new and deadly disease.

To this end Virgo Foundation would be looking to raise funds and to welcome donations to this most important cause. We aim to host several fund-raising projects (mostly on –line) to enable us participate fully in offering a helping hand to those in need.

Finally we wish to make a heartfelt plea to everyone to please follow the standard guidelines laid down by the NCDC in order to not pass the infection and to practice social distancing at all times:

  1. Wash hands regularly with soap and hot water.
  2. Be a good six feet away from people to avoid infection
